Thursday, March 20th -6pm – Grandpa Jones Country Musician and Comic -1913-1998~~Public Invited
Louis Marshall Jones, better known as Grandpa, was the son of Henderson County sharecroppers. Â Hard times drove the family north to Akron, Ohio in the late 1920’s. Â Jones, who had a repertoire of songs learned from his parents and the radio, won a talent contest that led to regular work on an Akron radio station. Â That launched a career that lasted more than sixty years. Â Come enjoy a Chautauqua performance of Grandpa Jones hosted by the Casey County Friends of the Library and the Kentucky Humanities Council. Â This will also be our awards ceremony night and will take place at the Lights of Liberty theater. Â
