[bigmessage]Creative Writing Contest 2015 Has Begun[/bigmessage]

Theme: Six months ago, a gigantic solar flare generated an Electro­Magnetic Pulse (EMP) so massive that it destroyed all electronic equipment in North America. You have 200 words to write a story that takes place in the Casey County of this new world. GO!

Length: 200 words or less, typed and double­spaced

Deadline: All entries must be received no later than Friday, March 27th, 2015. Eligibility: All entrants must be a resident of Casey County.

Age Groups: ­
Youth (grades 7 – 12)
Adults (age 18 & over)
Awards for each age group: First prize: $ 75 Second prize: $ 50 Third prize: $ 25

Winners will be notified by Wednesday, April 29th; prizes will be awarded on Saturday, May 2nd. Winning entrants will also receive award certificates and have their stories published in the Casey County News!

Judging: Each entry will be reviewed & scored by three (3) or more independent judges on:

Creativity & Originality–50 points
Grammar & Mechanics–25 points
Personal Impression–25 points

Submission Guidelines

­ All entries must be original, unpublished work.
­ Entries must be typed and double­spaced.
­ Only one (1) entry per person. Entries will not be returned.
­ Entries received after deadline will not be eligible. All judges’ decisions are final. ­

Each entry must include a cover sheet with the following information:
Title of the entry
Author’s Name
Category (Youth or Adult)
Mailing Address Telephone number
