We are Now Open with Modifications

We are open for modified service. We are eager to have everyone back, but the main priority is to do this in the safest manner possible. It is highly recommended that you call before coming to the library as we may close or return to curbside on short notice if the number of cases in the county increase by a certain number or we are advised to do so by the health department or other agencies. In this manner you will know what to expect when you arrive.

Hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 – 5:45 and Saturday from 9:00 – 2:45. People may enter the building the beginning of each hour and stay for 45 minutes (e.g. 9 – 9:45 am, 10 – 10:45 am, etc.) leaving 15 minutes each hour for cleaning and disinfection. If you come later in the hour, you will still only get to stay until 45 minutes past the hour. This is “grab and go”, not a leisurely browsing situation.

Safety precautions will include, but are not limited to, plexiglass guards installed at the checkout desks and a hand-sanitizing station available for patrons when they walk through the door. Face coverings that cover the nose and mouth are required to be worn the entire time customers are in the library, unless they fall under the exemptions outlined by the CDC. Social distancing, at a minimum of six feet, will be practiced while on site, and informational signs are posted to help with this while in the aisles or at the check-out stations.

Library customers will have access to the library’s entire collection, including books, DVDs, audios, and children and young adult material. Printing, document scanning, and fax services will be available. Restrooms and water fountains will not be available for use. Browsing in the genealogy section will not be available, but staff will assist in making copies of documents that are not comprehensive in nature. Six computers will be available, allowing for safe social distancing practices for their users. A maximum occupancy of 15 people (9 for browsing and 6 for computer use) will be maintained each hour. At this time no face-to-face meetings may be held in the meeting rooms.

We will continue to have a variety of online programs via Facebook for all ages. Those needing to pick up kits for activities will be notified when they are ready and can be picked up during regular hours.

Curbside service (by appointment only), online digital access, and one computer and printer will continue for those who want to continue to use them or those who do not want to follow the mask requirement. Call (606) 787-9381 with any questions you may have about what is available to you.

“This is not forever and we ask that patrons continue to be patient. We want to get back to normal as soon as we can. We just want to do it in the safest way possible under the recommendations of the CDC and the federal and state guidelines.”
